July in the 6ix — 2026

World Cup Finale · Canada Day · Caribana Kick-Off  · Blue Jays · Concerts

The World Cup wraps its Canadian chapter, the city takes Canada Day seriously, Caribana season officially opens, and the Jays are back at Rogers Centre for a packed home stand. Here’s everything worth getting off the couch for.

FIFA World Cup 26 — Final Toronto Match

Toronto’s run as a World Cup host city comes to a close on July 2 with one final knockout match at BMO Field ("Toronto Stadium"). The FIFA Fan Festival at Fort York & The Bentway wraps up the same week — free entry, live broadcasts, and food vendors along the grounds. After July 3, the tournament shifts entirely to U.S. venues for the quarterfinals onward, with the final at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on July 19.

Thu Jul 2, 7:00 PM  Round of 32 (Knockout)  —  BMO Field.  Group K runner-up vs Group L runner-up. The last World Cup match ever played in Toronto — do not sleep on this one.
Through Jul 3  FIFA Fan Festival  —  Fort York & The Bentway.  Free. Live match broadcasts all month, food vendors, and fan zones.

Canada Day

July 1 is a statutory holiday and the city shuts down in the best way. The main celebrations spread across Nathan Phillips Square, Harbourfront Centre, and Mel Lastman Square. Expect fireworks downtown after dark — the waterfront is the best viewing spot.

Tue Jul 1  Canada Day at Mel Lastman Square  —  Free outdoor concert and activities through the day. Fireworks in the evening.
Tue Jul 1  Harbourfront Centre Canada Day  —  Free programming, live music, and cultural performances along the waterfront. All day.

Toronto Outdoor Art Fair (TOAF)

One of the longest-running outdoor art events in North America returns to Nathan Phillips Square for its annual summer run. Hundreds of artists set up along the square — paintings, photography, sculpture, ceramics, and jewellery. Entry is free and the quality is genuinely impressive. A good counterprogram to the crowds downtown on Canada Day weekend.

Jul 3–5 (Thu–Sat)  Toronto Outdoor Art Fair  —  Nathan Phillips Square (100 Queen St W). Free admission. All weekend.

Toronto Caribbean Carnival (Caribana) — Season Opens
The world’s largest Caribbean carnival kicks off its lead-up events in July. The Grand Parade is in August — but the parties start now.

Fetes, jump-ups, steelpan showcases, and picnics begin in late July as the Caribbean community builds toward the Simcoe Day long weekend parade on Lakeshore Blvd. If you’ve never been to Caribana, the July fetes are a great introduction — smaller, more intimate, and spread across venues city-wide. Check torontocarnival.ca for the full calendar as dates are confirmed.

Blue Jays at Home

Defending American League champions back at Rogers Centre for four home series in July. All-Star break falls mid-month (July 13–16, 96th All-Star Game in Philadelphia). Times are Eastern.

Wed Jul 1  vs New York Mets  —  1:07 PM Canada Day matinee. Wraps the series that started June 29.
Jul 17–19 (Fri–Sun)  vs Chicago White Sox  —  Fri 7:07 · Sat 3:07 · Sun 1:37.
Jul 20–23 (Mon–Thu)  vs Tampa Bay Rays  —  All four at 7:07 PM. Division rival series — Rays are leading the AL East.
Jul 31 (Fri)  vs St. Louis Cardinals  —  7:07 PM. Series opener (continues into August).
Note: Game times are standard — confirm on mlb.com/bluejays before heading out.

Concerts

Rogers Stadium goes quiet in July (no announced shows at time of writing), but Budweiser Stage on the waterfront keeps the summer schedule moving. Check budweiserstage.ca for the full summer lineup — weekly shows from late June through September. Some highlights often land in this window from touring pop, indie, and R&B acts.

One thing to know: With Canada Day on July 1 and the World Cup match on July 2, transit and parking around Exhibition Place and downtown will be under pressure on both days. The TTC is your best bet — free post-show rides still apply for World Cup events. Book Budweiser Stage shows early; July is peak season and tickets move fast.

See you out there!
