October is when Toronto fully leans into fall. Nuit Blanche turns downtown into an all night art crawl, Thanksgiving brings the city's first long weekend of the season, and Halloween takes over everything from Casa Loma to Canada's Wonderland. Add a full slate of concerts and a literary festival closing out the month, and there is plenty to fill the calendar before November arrives.

Toronto's all night art event marks its 20th anniversary this year.
Sat Oct 3, 7pm to Sun Oct 4, 7am Nuit Blanche Toronto, locations across the city. The free event returns for its 20th year with dozens of art installations placed around the city overnight. Free to attend, with extended TTC service.
Thanksgiving Weekend
Halloween Season
Spooky season runs almost the whole month, with something for thrill seekers and families alike.
Sat Oct 3 to Sat Oct 31 Legends of Horror, Casa Loma. A self guided, roughly one hour walk through the castle's gardens and underground tunnels, with tickets starting around $35.
Select nights through Sun Nov 1 Halloween Haunt, Canada's Wonderland. The theme park runs its after dark Halloween event on select nights from Sept 25 through Nov 1, with scare zones, haunted mazes and night rides. Not recommended for kids under 13.
Sat Oct 31 Halloween. Trick or treating and costume parties across the city.
Concerts
The music keeps going as the weather cools down. RBC Amphitheatre, Scotiabank Arena and Massey Hall all have shows on the calendar through October. Dates and openers change often, so double check the venue listings before you buy.
Festivals and Neighbourhood Fun
Wed Oct 28 to Sun Nov 1 Toronto International Festival of Authors, Victoria University at U of T. Canada's largest literary festival returns with author talks, readings and panels.
